Adult Service Trip

Jesus calls us to love our neighbors near and far. Every year, we send youth on service trips, then see pictures and hear stories of the amazing opportunities they’ve had to grow in faith by serving others. This year, the adults get a turn too!

Grow in faith and fellowship with others as we spend three days and two nights in Chicago. We’ll share the love of Jesus at various service and meal sites, learn from existing ministries, and laugh, pray, and worship together.

When is the trip?

August 2-4, 2026. We’ll carpool to Chicago after worship on Sunday, August 2. After getting oriented to the neighborhood where we’re staying and serving on Sunday afternoon, we’ll spend all day Monday and Tuesday morning at service sites doing projects. We’ll have some free time to explore downtown Chicago on Tuesday afternoon, then we’ll drive back home on Tuesday evening, August 4.

What will we be doing?

While we don’t yet know all the sites and ministries we’ll be serving with, our time in Chicago will likely include serving at least one meal at a community food program and doing a project at Cornerstone Community Outreach to help address homelessness. We may also have opportunities to help with community projects like gardening, sorting donations, cleaning, or whatever else is needed to help ministries in the area who are working to serve people in need.

Who is this for?

Adults connected to all Lighthouse partner churches are invited. Whether you have fond memories of youth group trips as a teenager or this is your first time on an intentional service learning trip, this is for you! No experience or special skills are needed. We’ll have a mix of projects to meet all ability levels.

Where are we staying?

In Chicago, we’ll be staying with Jesus People USA. Jesus People USA is a church family of nearly 200 people living together in intentional Christian community, sharing a 10-story building in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. Our group will stay in dorm-style housing with bunk beds and shared bathrooms. We’ll even get to join the community for some meals!

What’s it cost?

We expect this entire service trip to cost $200 per person, including lodging and meals. Please reach out if that cost is a challenge for you, or if you’re not able to personally participate but would like to contribute towards the trip costs for others.

When and how do I sign up?

Fill out this form to sign up. Please sign up by March 29. We will be in contact about payment once we know who all is interested in participating.
